PRIVACY POLICY

IDS-DRR is an open-data platform built to publish information about places, not people. The maps, datasets, and flood-risk scores you find here describe districts and revenue circles. They do not identify any individual. This page explains the small amount of technical data we handle when you visit, and the rights you have under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What we collect

Very little. You can use everything on this Platform without creating an account or telling us your name, email address, or phone number. We do not collect personal information when you visit this website. We do not use advertising trackers, and we never sell data of any kind. <br /> Like most websites, however, a small amount of technical information is processed automatically to keep the Platform running. Our servers also keep standard access logs, meaning the IP address, time, and page requested, for security purposes. These are retained for one year, as required by the security provisions of the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025, and are used only to detect and investigate security incidents, never to identify or profile visitors. This data exists to keep the Platform secure and working, and for nothing else.

Where our data comes from

The information published on this Platform is drawn from public and government sources: satellite imagery, the India Meteorological Department, state disaster management authorities, population estimates, and public procurement portals. We process these sources only to compute indicators at the level of geography. Where a public government record happens to mention an individual, such as a contractor named in a published tender, we do not republish, enrich, or profile that information.

Your Rights

Under the DPDP Act, you can ask us what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. You can also raise a complaint about how data is handled. For any of these, write to us at legal@civicdatalab.in. We will acknowledge your request and resolve it within 90 days, as required under the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025.

If anything changes

Should the Platform ever change in a way that affects your privacy, for example if we introduce user accounts, we will update this page and highlight the change. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
